100,000 Miles

My trusty Mazda just turned over 100,000 miles. Other cars I've done the same in:
  • 1995 Acura Integra
  • 1993 Honda Civic
  • 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale
(One of these things is not like the other....) This is four of the ten cars I've owned in the last 20 years. Wow, that's a lot of cars. And a strong tendency to buy used cars with high-five-digits mileage.

  1. My car has 102,000 miles. It's a Toyota. I don't think 100,000 is anything special with a Toyota, except now I'm sinking some substantial bucks into something to do with the front suspension.

I wish I had a mechanic in the family who could tell me whether something really needs to be fixed or not. My husband is much more open to taking the first auto mechanic opinion than I am. I hate spending money on car stuff. Oh, well, such is life.

  2. A good mechanic is hard to find, and indispensible when you've found one. But you need to be sure you've found one.

Historically I've had an average of a car every two years, and I've had this one two years. If I keep it for another two, I'll probably put brakes and tires on it, and maybe exhaust. I should probably keep it - I've sunk a lot of money into it, and since I got the shocks done, I'm quite enjoying it.
