I've discovered cufflinks.
Shirts with French cuffs are in fashion, that is, they've filtered down to my pricepoint. Most of these shirts don't actually come with cufflinks--I only own one pair, from a shirt that did come with them--so I have to buy some.
What's next, a monocle?
Cuff Links are great. I sold hundreds when I was in the retail menswear biz. My hands down favorites ever were fashioned as tiny sterling silver shirt cuffs (Tateossian, I think). Sort of like having a necktie with a printed pattern of tiny neckties.
ReplyDeleteWhere do I look for cheap cufflinks? Salvation Army? The new ones I see are $$$.
ReplyDeleteOr pawnshops, or online - define "cheap". Does fashion permit one to be creative? It seems to me that a handy, mechanically-minded fellow could possibly make some.
ReplyDeleteSee now, there's an idea: for about $0.25 worth of raw materials, I could cast a cubic centimeter of bismuth or antimony around a machine screw. The head of the screw would be the non-decorative end of the cufflink.
ReplyDeleteEven better if I could cast each element into a tile that looks like a piece of the periodic table: "Bi", "Sb".
